Wrapping Up a Wonderful 123rd Continental Congress

Lynn Young, President General

National Defense Night was a truly moving ceremony. Our speakers gave such thoughtful and meaning remarks and each of our award winners were more than worthy of their awards. National Defense night is always my favorite as I am humbled to stand in our beautiful auditorium singing the National Anthem with thousands of other patriots. Vice Admiral Howard and General Schwartz gave inspiring remarks about their work with our nation's military.

Last evening we also recognized our very own Honorary Vice President General Yvonne Boone with a Certificate of Honor from the Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration. Mrs. Boone lost her son during Vietnam and it was a privledge to present her with this certificate in recognition of the patriotism, service and sacrfice of her son and family.

This morning we will participate in the Memorial Service and then we will have the Installation Ceremony for the new State Regents, and the newly elected Vice Presidents General and Honorary Vice President General.

Congratulations to all these wonderful ladies!

Following the Installation Ceremony we will have the National Board of Management luncheon and meeting where we will begin another year of DAR work.

I am so pleased with the entire week of Continental Congress and I hope all of our attendees found their week educational, motivating and fun.

I hope this week’s blogs, the live streams of the sessions, photos and the daily Congress Herald have helped those of you who were unable to attend experience Congress from home and I hope you can join us next year!

Thank you all for making this Continental Congress so wonderful!
