Don’t Miss Out! Subscribe to the Today’s DAR Blog!

August 13, 2013

Greetings to everyone who might be seeing the Today’s DAR Blog for the first time! If you have just discovered the blog recently as a result of our email blast, you join more than 50,000 viewers who have visited the blog since I began writing it June 30, 2013. I have been so pleased by the positive reception to this blog that I wanted to make sure all of our more than 175,000 members were aware of it. Please help to spread the word to the members in your chapters and states. I hope you will find the Today’s DAR Blog to be a resource you can rely on to make the most of your DAR membership!

UPDATE: Wow! Thanks for everyone’s interest in the blog! The response from the email blast we sent on Tuesday generated such incredibly high traffic to the blog that it was crashing the site all day. Our apologies to those who experienced problems viewing the blog or trying to subscribe to it.  Thanks for your patience as we work to accommodate all of our new viewers!

In the Today’s DAR Blog, we regularly share information about what is going on at our National Headquarters. I also love to share success stories of inspiring and innovative ways in which states, chapters and members are fulfilling the mission of our Society.

I have written about marching in the National Independence Day Parade; described the President General’s Project; and reflected on how we all join DAR for different but uniquely special reasons, to name just a few recent posts. You can click on the Categories tab to view certain thematic topics that have been covered in the posts and you can click on the Archives tab when you want to see all of the entries that have previously been posted on the blog. You can learn more from the different pages on the blog such as the Celebrate America! page or the Community Grants page. Useful links are also located on the blog to take you to our Facebook, Flickr and YouTube pages as well as the GRS, the Public Website and the Members’ Website.

We look forward to highlighting some new features such as guest blog posts, and we have incorporated a way for you to send questions and comments to us at Headquarters. While, unfortunately, I am unable to personally respond to each of you, when I have a chance I will try to gather some of the most frequently asked questions and answer them on the blog from time to time.

As of August 13, we have close to 1,500 active email subscribers to the blog. If you would like to sign up to receive the Today’s DAR Blog posts by email, there is a button at the very bottom of this page. Simply enter your email address and click "Submit." Please note that those people who were previously subscribed to the last blog will need to resubscribe in order receive Today’s DAR Blog post email notifications.

I hope you continue to enjoy the blog. It is so nice to have you all along with me for this exciting adventure as we Celebrate America!
