We are finalizing plans and counting down the days until the 126th Continental Congress! This year’s Congress, June 28 – July 2, will be filled with important business meetings and social functions. We will also highlight the important work of our National Committees, chapters and members at Service to America Night! If you have not yet made plans to attend the 126th Congress, I hope you will do so. I am pleased to share some of the details and updates about this year’s Congress.
Credentialing and registration information for Congress was mailed to your Chapter Regent. If you plan to attend Congress and would like to pre-register, please contact your Chapter Regent. The pre-registration postmark deadline is April 15 and the registration fee is $40 for members and $15 for guests. If you miss the April 15 pre-registration postmark deadline, we still encourage you to attend Congress and you can register for Congress onsite for a $50 member fee and $20 guest fee.
The Tentative 126th Continental Congress Schedule is now available to view online and can also be found in the March/April Daughters newsletter. The schedule includes tentative times and locations for the important committee, club and state events taking place throughout the week of Congress. The tentative schedule will continue to be updated online leading up to Congress, so please check the Members’ Website for new information.
Our National Chairs are working hard on their National Committee online video presentations that will be posted on the Members’ Website later this spring. These online video presentations will take the place of the committee forums previously presented at Congress, making them accessible to even more of our members, including those unable to attend Congress. I hope you will view these video presentations with your chapter and fellow members, and, if you are able to make it to Congress, will come to Service to America Night to discuss your committee questions and feedback with our National Chairs. Be on the lookout for more information about these video presentations on the Members’ Website in the upcoming months.
As we get closer to Congress, I hope you will remember to regularly check the Members’ Website for more updated Congress information and announcements. New Congress information will continue to be added in the months leading up to the 126th Congress.
Other important updates:
- There are still rooms available at the Grand Hyatt, our official convention hotel. Please note, when making a reservation through the Passkey link, if one night you are requesting is booked, the site will indicate there are no rooms available for you during the entire week. If your dates are flexible, please try different dates on the site and see if any rooms come up as available.
- To stay up-to-date and in the know on all Congress happenings, be sure to download the official DAR Congress App
- Page invitations were sent out last month. For more information on paging, please visit the Page section of the Congress website
- Do not miss your chance to sing in Constitution Hall and sign up for the DAR Chorus
I hope these updates will help you make your plans to attend Congress this year. I cannot wait for the 126th Continental Congress and to welcome you all to Washington, D.C.!
